Swisslog to introduce the latest solutions in logistics automation at Seamless Middle East 2019

Solutions are specifically designed to meet the dynamic needs of retail, e-commerce and multichannel logistics

At the upcoming Seamless Middle East exhibition 2019, Swisslog, the global leader in robotic, data-driven and flexible automated solutions will present its range of modular yet standardized software to meet the key requirements for both pure e-commerce platforms and retail chains.

E-commerce has fundamentally changed the nature of the retail supply chain. This segment is currently the fastest growing segment in the global economy. While this means tremendous opportunity for both multi-channel retailers and pureplay e-commerce companies, competition has never been more intense. Meeting the challenges of omni-channel fulfillment operations is compounded by consumer expectations for speed, individuality and convenience, forcing retailers to rapidly adjust their supply chain concepts.

The challenges of e-fulfillment include, for example, large SKU counts, high penalties for poor performance, demand for real-time and accurate inventory visibility, small numbers of items per order and high numbers of returns from customers. From the incoming online order to picking, packing and shipping the goods, every step must be handled efficiently, consistently and cost effectively.
Modern warehouse automation and software systems must rise to these challenges, and at the exhibition, Swisslog will demonstrate its full suite of solutions including automated high bay warehousing and goods-to-person systems for boxes and items.

Logistics automation can help retailers increase the speed of order fulfillment, improve order accuracy and effectively manage an ever-increasing number of SKUs. Order fulfillment rates can be up to five times faster than manual systems. For example, the fast-growing retail and e-commerce company, Xenos, improved its pick performance by more than 50% and saved 3-4 hours shipment time per delivery per store after the automation of its distribution centre. As a consequence of rapid growth, Sportamore, another example of a fast-growing online retailer, faced increased challenges in the supply chain. The company wanted a modern warehouse solution that combines a high degree of automation with fast and safe pick and pack. The logistics automation solutions that were applied resulted in several tangible effects, including the increase of order capacity by up to 50% in the initial phase.

Alain Kaddoum, the General Manager of Swisslog Middle East will also conduct two presentations on the importance of increasing efficiency with data-driven and robotic warehousing and the power of automation in retail/e-commerce sectors (E-commerce university seminar theatre - Day 1, 2pm and Main Conference, 3.20pm). All those interested in smart city concepts and performance efficiency are invited to participate.
Swisslog’s senior management will be available to discuss retail automation solutions at Stand L-10 in Retail & Ecommerce section, April 10th & 11th from 9:00am till 17.30pm, Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Sheikh Saeed Hall 2 & 3.
