Swisslog and JBM drive intelligent automation in Spain with innovative AutoStore system

Swisslog, a global leader in automated intralogistics solutions, is proud to announce a new partnership with JBM Campllong, S.L., a Spanish company specializing in the supply of tools for the automotive sector and industrial applications . Together, they have launched a transformative project aimed at optimizing space and boosting operational efficiency in JBM's warehouse.
Despite its strategic location near the airport, JBM faced a major challenge: limited industrial land and high warehouse occupancy left little room for growth.
To overcome this, the company teamed up with Swisslog to implement an AutoStore system on a mezzanine, unlocking vertical space while freeing up the ground level for critical logistics operations like stock reception, order preparation, and consolidation.
A smart, space-saving solution
Swisslog’s tailored solution features a state-of-the-art AutoStore system designed to maximize storage in a compact footprint. At the heart of the installation is a Double-Double-Grid (DDG) structure housing over 13,000 bins and operated by a fleet of R5 robots that ensure seamless, efficient throughput.
To support receiving and dispatch, three Swing Port workstations will be installed, with a fourth pre-configured for future expansion to ensure the system remains flexible and scalable as JBM grows.
The entire operation is orchestrated by Swisslog's SynQ software, which streamlines both storage and order picking processes.
Ground-level efficiency
On the warehouse floor, Swisslog will implement a Pick-to-Light (PTL) system on mobile trolleys, enabling fast and accurate order consolidation from both the AutoStore and manual warehouse zones. LED Pointer systems at workstations provide visual guidance, enhancing picking precision and reducing errors.
Bernat Miquel, Logistics Director at JBM explains: "The decision to implement the AutoStore system is a strategic milestone for our warehouse. We hope to optimize the use of space drastically, allowing more products to be stored on the same surface. This, together with the improvement in the efficiency of order preparation, will reduce times and errors, increasing the accuracy and quality of our service."

Swisslog stood out as the ideal integrator for this project, thanks to its deep experience in space-constrained environments and its agile, customer-focused approach. The two-level AutoStore configutarion maximises vertical space while preserving ground-level functionality.
A key differentiator was Swisslog's advanced software logic, powered by SynQ, which seamlessly integrates orders from both automated and manual systems into a unified workflow. This was further enhanced by a detailed data analysis that enabled precise sizing of racks and mobile trolleys, factoring in seasonal demand to ensure peak efficiency year-round.
