Systems Engineer

As a member of the managed services team, the Systems Engineer supports and maintains remote, virtual and cloud-based systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software. Analyzes, develops, modifies, tests, maintains, and supports the integrity of the hardware, virtualization layer, operating system environment and various applications. Administers, installs, and troubleshoots a variety of operating systems and applications to include databases. Installs, configures, and, supports systems maintenance tasks, such as system back-up, recovery, and file maintenance. Supports deployment, and testing of system software upgrades. Configures software and resolves technical problems. Monitors and maintains software licensing and maintenance agreements. Participates in on-call support for managed systems including nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel required as necessary.

Reports to the manager of CS Managed Services. The Systems Administrator contributes to complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.

Supports system administration of 100+ Azure VMs and 9+ VMware Datacenters
Supports and administers remote office-branch office (ROBO) solutions for software-as-a-service products
Responsible for technical operations and service asset and configuration management IAW ITILv3 framework
Create and maintain service design packages and as-built documentation
Responsible for cyber auditing and compliance to NIST standards
Establish and maintain monitoring for availability, capacity, and security
Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing system performance and trends
Makes recommendations and implements improvements following change management procedures
Participates in troubleshooting and resolving incidents. On-call support is required for production systems and critical test servers.
Completes platform installation, upgrades, and migrations
Responsible for installation and release of databases as submitted by the development teams.
Participate in problem management process by completing root cause analysis

Application Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of the following technologies:

  • Microsoft Directory Services, Group Policy, WSUS,
  • O365, SharePoint
  • Basic physical and virtual networking
  • Storage technologies
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must be available for after-hours on-call rotation
  • Demonstrated people skills
  • Experience with automated material handling software
  • Exposure to the logistics Industry
  • Understanding of warehouse management software products

Experience, Educational, and Professional Qualifications
  • BS degree in engineering/computer science or demonstratable experience of comparable understanding
  • VMware Certified Professional
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) –Windows Server
  • 2+ years’ experience with VMware
  • 2+ years’ experience with Microsoft Server
  • 1+ years’ experience with MS-SQLServer administration
  • 1+ years’ experience configuring network switches
  • System administration experience in Linux, AIX, and Windows
  • VMware Certified Professional Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)
  • VMware Certified Professional Network Virtualization (VCP-NV)
  • ITILv4 Foundations
  • ITILv3 Intermediate Planning, Protection and Optimization or Service Design
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) – Cloud Platform and Infrastructure
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) – Core Infrastructure
  • Agile/Scrum experience
  • Azure administration
  • Warehouse and logistics operations
