The Safety Specialist is responsible for working with the Safety Manager and VP of HSE and other stake-holders to provide safety oversight and improvement in support of onsite project teams. The position develops and manages site-specific safety plans; ensures compliance with Global and Regional Corporate Rules, OSHA and legal requirements, and client safety requirements; and conducts root-cause analyses of health and safety incidents. The Safety Specialist monitors and documents the effectiveness of safety control measures and directs the safety staff in the implementation of the company Safety Program.Short Facts

Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with y requirements.
- Serve as a primary contact for onsite safety issues.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Satisfy Customer requirements by participating in monthly site meetings with customers on H&S issues, when required
- Create, manage, and review site-specific safety plans
- Verify compliance with permit-to-work, lock-out/tagout (LOTO), and confined space procedures.
- Manage internal incidents; ensure that safety emergencies and injuries are properly addressed and documented
- Ensure that a thorough accident management system is in place, to undertake risk assessment processes to identify hazards and to ensure that appropriate control measures are in place
Application Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years’ safety-related experience is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of OSHA requirements.
- Computer and Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to research pertinent facts and data from internal and external sources
- Strong leadership and supervision experience, particularly in supervising off-site personnel
- Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively motivate employees, communicate objectives and action plans, and establish positive relationships with stakeholders
