Swisslog sets eyes on Southeast Asia E&E Industry

One of the world's leading logistics automation companies has announced its intention to expand its footprint in Southeast Asia. Swisslog will be introducing new, flexible and data driven automation solutions for electrical and electronic (E&E) players in the warehouse operations space.

To this end, Swisslog will be showcasing AutoStore at SEMICON Southeast Asia 2023, the region’s premier global electronics manufacturing and supply chain event. The event returns to Penang on 23-25 May at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre.

Perfect for housing small parts such as semiconductors or electrical components, AutoStore is a compact storage and order picking system that uses efficient, scalable robotics. This unique and simple solution uses robots and bins to quickly process small parts orders, providing better use of available space than any other automated system. Thanks to its unique design, it enables direct stacking of bins on top of each other and storage of multiple Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) in a single bin. Over time, the system performs natural slotting where products with a higher rotation are stored on the top layer to ensure faster picking time.

Sky Lee See Khai, Head of Sales AutoStore in Southeast Asia said: “The E&E industry has been the backbone of many economies in Southeast Asia, and with digitalization on the rise, we foresee the growth of devices, electric vehicles, high-performance computing, smart cities, and many more, which drives the need for semiconductor products. To remain competitive, industry players need data-driven and robotic solutions that help future-proof their supply chains and business.”

Sky Lee continues: “This is where Swisslog comes in, by giving industry players access to highly efficient robotized storage and order processing solutions that are intelligent, scalable and cost effective. Swisslog has delivered more than 360 AutoStore projects worldwide and we have completed more than 15 projects in Southeast Asia. We look forward to growing our footprint in the region and engaging with the Southeast Asia E&E industry at SEMICON Southeast Asia 2023.” During the three-day show, participants will be able to experience AutoStore and its benefits. In addition to gathering more information on the system, participants will be able to view a live AutoStore robotic picking and software demonstration, and even try their hand at the system. Currently, Swisslog already has several key customers including Yusen Logistics Singapore, True Thailand and Grocery Logistics of Singapore.

Sky Lee adds: “We are uniquely placed to help businesses integrate AutoStore into their operations, be it smaller starter systems to larger, more complex systems. We are also ready for the future, and able to expand when businesses are ready to do so. Our global expertise and local knowledge, especially in warehousing and technology, puts us in prime position to support semiconductor players in Southeast Asia.”

“In addition to integrating AutoStore into existing warehousing systems, Swisslog also works with its customers to train and upskill employees to ensure they have the necessary capabilities to manage AutoStore. This is important to us, as we want to create an ecosystem that not only provides new technology and solutions, but also contributes to the talent development of the workforce,” Sky Lee concluded.
