Arvid Nordquist HAB, Sweden: Space saved, efficiency gained
Arvid Nordquist HAB is a Swedish family-owned business established in 1884. Today the company is Sweden's leading coffee producer and a Nordic trading company within coffee, wine & beer, food & confectionery and non-food. The company operates throughout the Nordic region – in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark – and has a large product portfolio with well-known brands from many different countries.
Sustainable automated warehouse for coffee production
In 2018 Arvid Nordquist decided to build a modern headquarters, a resource-efficient coffee roastery and an automated high-bay warehouse – all as an integrated, climate-smart and efficient facility in Järfälla, just north of Stockholm.
The entire project has been guided by the company's high ambitions regarding social responsibility, sustainability and ergonomics in combination with demands for operational efficiency.
Something out of the ordinary
The new facility is something out of the ordinary. The coffee roastery's frame is built of 70 percent wood, while the office frame is built of 90 percent wood. The automated high-bay warehouse for pallets, delivered by Swisslog, is seamlessly integrated and connected to the production facility by a conveyor system.
The two Vectura stacker cranes are energy efficient and have up to 20 per cent lower energy consumption compared to traditional cranes, thanks to its innovative mast and lighter crane weight.
We ultimately chose Swisslog because of their expertise, strong market presence, great commitment and competitive offering. Another important factor was SynQ WMS, a robust and fully integrated solution that connects seamlessly with our SAP system.
