Swisslog Spain leads FINDAL/Meat & Doria Spain’s warehouse automation with a state-of-the-art AutoStore system

Swisslog, a global leader in automated intralogistics solutions, announces a new strategic project with FINDAL/Meat & Doria Spain, a company specializing in automotive components, to implement a next-generation AutoStore system in its 2,000 m² warehouse located in Barcelona’s Zona Franca.
Although the company moved into these new facilities just four years ago, the growth of the M&D Group’s product lines, increased sales, and the ongoing pursuit of excellence in logistics management for its customers, have triggered a redesign and optimization process of its infrastructure. The challenge of maintaining and improving service with a portfolio of over 100 product families and nearly 37,000 active and expanding products is being addressed in the short, medium, and long term through the integration of AutoStore technology at FINDAL/Meat & Doria Spain’s central facilities in Barcelona.
A high-performance new system
The AutoStore system will be deployed with over 20,000 bins distributed across 18 levels, optimizing inventory management and operational flows. The solution will feature a fleet of AutoStore R5 robots, ensuring consistent performance and smooth operations throughout the day, offering significantly improved processing capacity compared to the current system.
With this implementation, Meat & Doria Spain expects to enhance its processes, increase the number of orders handled, and reduce operational space, with an estimated productivity improvement of over 100% compared to the previous system—exceeding 4,500 order lines per day.
Innovation to meet customer operational needs
One of the most innovative elements of the project is the integration of SynQ, Swisslog’s management software, with Pick-to-Light logic and the PPS (Projection Picking System) from Pick to Light Systems, which projects directly onto the workstation. This combination enables optimized, agile, and highly distinctive operations.
Additionally, the project includes the exclusive Cluster Port, a unique solution developed by Swisslog and powered by SynQ, which allows multiple bins to be managed in parallel for bulk goods replenishment.
This configuration, consisting of two workstations and five channels, addresses a key need for Meat & Doria: preparing multiple “inbound” bins simultaneously and efficiently, anticipating the dispatch of all types of orders. It acts as a buffer of empty bins for inbound operations with five distinct channels, each handling a specific bin type (1-1, 1-2, etc.), facilitating fast and high-volume storage directly from pallets into AutoStore.
The Cluster Port unifies workstations with conveyors, allowing AutoStore to deliver bins directly to operators for picking, speeding up bin preparation, order fulfillment and improving space utilization.
A future-oriented collaboration

Signed in summer 2025, the implementation at the Barcelona facilities will begin in the third quarter of 2025.
