Swisslog and Seeberger join forces for major high-bay warehouse expansion in Germany

15. oktober 2024

Swisslog is proud to announce a new partnership with Seeberger, a renowned German family business known for its natural snacks such as dried fruit and nuts. This collaboration involves the expansion of Seeberger's logistics at their Ulm site in Germany.

This project marks the beginning of Swisslog's partnership with Seeberger and includes a high-bay warehouse solution featuring a specialized "Hot Zone" buffer designed to accommodate 500 pallets. Swisslog was selected for this project over three other suppliers due to its flexible approach, ensuring a scalable logistics system ready for future growth.

Green innovation

Swisslog's comprehensive solution for Seeberger includes Vectura stacker cranes, ProMove conveyors, vertical lifts, and the advanced SynQ WCS software, among other cutting-edge technologies. This robust solution is designed to enhance Seeberger's logistics operation, expanding capacity and supporting Seeberger’s engagement for climate protection.

Additionally, Swisslog will provide a photovoltaic solution with an integrated roof and facade PV solution tailored to Seeberger’s needs. The new solution significantly contributes to Seeberger’s strategy to reduce C02 emissions. The photovoltaic solution developed by Swisslog will make a significant contribution to achieving this goal. Swisslog’s innovative façade concept increases the production of green energy via the side walls of the building and at the same time reduces the thermal energy input into the high-bay warehouse; active cooling of the building is therefore not necessary to maintain the temperature range of 5°C to 25°C.

"We are incredibly proud to be working with Seeberger on this exciting project," said Christopher Herweg, Head of Sales EMEA Central at Swisslog. “We look forward to working closely together with the common goal of significantly supporting Seeberger’s vision for a sustainable and innovative future by automating the material flow.”

Seeberger's sustainability strategy focuses on four core themes: circular economy, supply chain responsibility, climate protection, and community. The company aims to handle resources carefully, ensure the best quality with respect for people and nature, reduce its carbon footprint, and foster a positive and supportive work environment.

Markus Hiller, Project Leader at Seeberger, said: “The expansion of our logistics capacities at the Ulm site is an important step for us. We want to remain as flexible as possible for the future in the area of logistics and invest in a solution that is sustainable and energy-saving. Swisslog has provided us with exemplary support in this project and is delivering an overall solution that fulfils our requirements for sustainability and flexibility.”

The project is scheduled to start in January 2025. The ground-breaking ceremony took place on October 8, 2024, with completion scheduled for spring 2026.
