The system will accommodate 23,000 AutoStore bins and is set to go live in March 2019
Childrensalon operates the world's largest online store for
designer childrenswear and has chosen to work with Swisslog to install a
solution capable of 550 bin presentations per hour, served by 44 AutoStore
robots and six picking ports. As a member of the KUKA Group, Swisslog is one of
the world’s leading solution providers in the fields of robotics, automation,
systems engineering, and Industry 4.0.
The whole solution will be managed by Swisslog’s modular SynQ software. Also taking a modular approach, the warehouse management system can have new functionalities added as and when required by the retailer. Benefiting from continuous updates, the SynQ platform will allow Childrensalon to stay on the forefront of emerging technologies that can enhance their AutoStore operation.
Michele Harriman-Smith, CEO at Childrensalon says: “We are really pleased to be partnering with Swisslog to increase the level of automation at our facility. This partnership will allow Childrensalon to maximise efficiency and ensure we cope with the growth we will be experiencing over the next years. It is crucial for us to provide the best service for our customers and introducing this automated solution will allow us to do so as our business grows, while being able to allocate and flex our people where we need them as well.”
Founded in 1952 and online since 1999, Childrensalon has grown to house over 280 brands, with a selection ranging from the most prestigious designers - such as Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Givenchy and Balenciaga - to small, up-and-coming brands.
“Growing retailers like Childrensalon are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits automated solutions can bring to the warehouse operation,” says Swisslog’s Shane Faulkner. “It is projects like these that make us proud to be supporting multi-channel retailers in their mission to keep up with increasing customer demand.”
