Swisslog will showcase robotic and data-driven systems at LogiMAT 2020
Swisslog will demonstrate flexible robotics andintelligent automation based on the SynQ software platform at LogiMAT 2020. Theintralogistics specialist will feature its proprietary SynQ software platformthat orchestrates automation systems as well as its ItemPiQ small item roboticpicking solution. The benefits of Swisslog’s solutions include fasterprocesses, greater flexibility and transparency across the entire system.
Buchs / Dortmund, December 6, 2019 – Swisslog's trade fair exhibition at LogiMAT from March 10 to 12, 2020 in Stuttgart will be dedicated to innovative robotics and intelligent automation. "We are one of the world's leading players in logistics automation and offer a variety of unique solutions," according to Swisslog CEO Dr. Christian Baur. "We are also advancing new digital solutions that ensure a high degree of intelligence and flexibility in warehouses and distribution centers." Demand for these solutions is rapidly growing as they have moved beyond the research and development phase and are now being successfully deployed. LogiMAT visitors will be able to see these innovations up close and personal, specifically the ItemPiQ, ACPaQ and SynQ systems, Swisslog's state-of-the-art warehouse management software. In addition to the company's proprietary software portfolio, the Swiss intralogistics company will also be presenting SAP EWM solutions.
Highly developed sensor technology for small item picking
ItemPiQ is a fully automated robot order picking system. While the robot picks a wide variety of small items, it continuously learns by identifying the dimensions, weight and other characteristics of the product to be picked. It then adapts its gripping techniques accordingly, making the system increasingly efficient. "The ItemPiQ is a market innovation that advances automation closer to applied artificial intelligence," says Swisslog CEO Baur. "It features highly developed sensors." The solution is already being deployed in the USA combined with the AutoStore compact storage system. Customers in Europe are also in the process of deploying ItemPiQ.
ACPaQ is another fully automated robotic palletizing solution with a modular design. It can be scaled for small, mid-size and large distribution centers with a throughput of up to 500,000 packages per day. Automatic storage systems, such as the CycloneCarrier shuttle system, can be fully integrated into warehouse systems, ensuring reliable and transparent operation. The Swisslog palletizing software allows you to customize the palletizing order to boost efficiency when filling store shelves.
Four leading companies from the food and retail industries are already investing in the highly-efficient formation of mixed pallets or roller containers. This includes a Coca-Cola project in New Zealand and one deployment in Nestlé's new logistics center. The largest food and beverage company is slated to open a state-of-the-art warehouse in East Midlands Gateway, England, in spring 2020. Innovative technology is an integral part of the customized center, which features advanced sorting systems and robotics as well as state-of-the-art automation. The ACPaQ system is the perfect solution for Nestlé customers, for example, who order mixed case pallets instead of whole pallets with Kit Kats. The system programming instructs the robot to place the heavy products at the bottom of the pallet and the lighter ones at the top. This avoids product damage and ensures stability.
Leading companies rely on Swisslog software
SwissLog's SynQ intelligent warehouse management software is now deployed in more than 200 customer projects. This software forms the core of a warehouse, orchestrating and improving all material flows and visualizing them in real time and in 3D. In addition to traditional WMS functions for automatic and manual storage zones, SynQ also offers intelligent services. They may include virtual and augmented reality applications that streamline maintenance, employee training or spare parts management. The furniture giant IKEA is the latest customer to acquire SynQ. IKEA deploys SynQ software in its largest distribution center in the Asia-Pacific region for controlling the movement of goods. "Swisslog sees itself as a pioneer in digitization," confirms Dr. Christian Baur, "and is setting its sights beyond intralogistics."
