Childrensalon enlists Swisslog to implement AutoStore warehouse automation system to boost growth

Swisslog has been awarded a contract to deliver an AutoStore solution for Childrensalon, a British multi-channel retailer of high-end fashion and luxury clothes for children.

The system will accommodate 23,000 AutoStore bins and is set to go live in March 2019

Childrensalon operates the world's largest online store for designer childrenswear and has chosen to work with Swisslog to install a solution capable of 550 bin presentations per hour, served by 44 AutoStore robots and six picking ports. As a member of the KUKA Group, Swisslog is one of the world’s leading solution providers in the fields of robotics, automation, systems engineering, and Industry 4.0. 

Head of Sales for Swisslog in the UK, Shane Faulkner, explains how the modular approach to the solution allows for business expansion. “The AutoStore solution is a favourite among customers looking for a way to handle single items and small cases in a space-efficient and productive way,” he says. “The system we have designed for Childrensalon already has the ability to accommodate a 7th pick port and two automated bin interface points in line with expected growth.”

The whole solution will be managed by Swisslog’s modular SynQ software. Also taking a modular approach, the warehouse management system can have new functionalities added as and when required by the retailer. Benefiting from continuous updates, the SynQ platform will allow Childrensalon to stay on the forefront of emerging technologies that can enhance their AutoStore operation.

Founded in 1952 and online since 1999, Childrensalon has grown to house over 280 brands, with a selection ranging from the most prestigious designers - such as Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Givenchy and Balenciaga - to small, up-and-coming brands.
