The management and control of a complex installation require an overall concept for the control and information technology.

For software implementation the concept does not only have to be considered from the point of view of logistics functionality but also from the technical perspective.

From this angle we distinguish between three levels. At the top is the data systems technology. Below it is the control technology followed by all the peripherals. Customer/server architectures are state-of-the-art.
Another important part of the software is the control and management of the material flow. The transport through the entire intralogistics system is the function of the material flow software. The order from above essentially contains the start and destination points. The software controls all the geometric characteristics. The system must reliably know the exact location of each pallet at all times.

With the SPOC™ system Swisslog has created an attractive user interface. Its most striking feature is the visualization of the conveying installation in color graphics.
