AMAG

Central warehouse extension in Buchs ZH, Switzerland

AMAG

For AMAG, general importer of the Volkswagen Group in Switzerland, we are currently extending the company’s central spare parts warehouse in Buchs, ZH. Before that, a new automated small parts storage facility with picking area was fitted in 2006. The new high-bay storage area is located within the existing facility, which means parts of the existing hall had to be torn down and a new foundation needed to be laid while the facility remained operational. Thus even the construction stage presented a logistical challenge. The facility also features a fire protection plan utilizing reduced oxygen content.

The Pfieffewiesen production facility was designed by British architect James Stirling. Ever since the facility’s first extension stage in 1992, Swisslog has been responsible for all its warehouse logistics. Currently the high-bay storage area is being extended from today’s 16 to 24 aisles, the picking location from 10 aisles to 14.

Denner AG

Extension Denner AG distribution center in Mägenwil, Switzerland

For Denner AG we are extending the company’s existing distribution center in Mägenwil by building a new 11,000 sqm high bay storage area.

The project comprises the storage management system, the picking location featuring the integrated “CaddyPick” order picking system, automated pallet transport to and from storage, the redesign and extension of the manual storage areas, as well as the controlling of the entire flow of goods (the facility has a capacity of 19,265 pallets and is a silo design with an integrated picking level on the first floor; it also features pallet storage by automated rack-operating units and removal of picked goods by electric overhead trolley conveyors).

Scheduled for commissioning in September 2007.

Lonza

Distribution center extension in Visp VS, Switzerland

Lonza

In 2006 we were commissioned by the Lonza company with the comprehensive reorganization of their product logistics operations in Visp. To be executed in stages, the commission comprised a high-bay extension, a refrigerated warehouse (cooled down to temperatures of  20 and 70 °C, respectively), a small parts storage facility, a new incoming goods area, as well as an office and community tract.

A special feature of the cooled warehouses and the small-parts storage facility is the fire protection measure of oxygen reduction and thus inertization.
