Swisslog Awarded Carrier-Speed Patent

Company’s robust patent portfolio underscores commitment to ongoing technology development

DENVER, Colo. (October 26, 2011) – Swisslog, a leading provider of automated materials transport and medication management solutions for hospitals, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued patent number 7,950,879 for its systems and methods of controlling the speed of carriers in a pneumatic tube system (PTS).

Nexus control panel provides advanced functionality, speed and ease of use with touch-screen technology.

This advanced touch-screen display works with 6-inch and 4-inch TransLogic, Quantum and competitive PTS stations, and can be retrofitted to existing systems one station at a time or as part of a complete system overhaul.

The design of the new control panel was influenced by hospital personnel—resulting in user-friendly technology ideally suited to busy hospital environments. Unlike traditional control panels, Nexus gives users an ATM-like touch-screen with vibrant colors and easy-to-read large type, as well as pre-programmed speed dials (Quick Keys) making tube system transactions even more efficient.

Nexus enables easy access to special functions like STAT, secure-send, and variable speed—for special handling of sensitive materials. Built-in security features, such as PIN codes and support for optional access badge readers ensure that only authorized users gain access to the tube system.
