Fashion group Lindex awards Swisslog larger order
Buchs/Aarau, 1 November 2006 – The Scandinavian fashion group Lindex has commissioned the logistics company Swisslog to design and equip its new distribution center at group headquarters in Göteborg.
Lindex, one of the leading suppliers of women's and children's wear in northern Europe, has raised its number of outlets to 350 in just a couple of years. To accommodate the increased volumes as well as logistics demands on its way to continued expansion, Lindex has awarded Swisslog a contract to design and equip a new automated distribution centre. "We are proud to have been chosen by such a successful company to support it in its growth strategy", Charles Teissonnière, President of Swisslog's Warehouse & Distributions Solutions Division, comments on the first order from Lindex. The new distribution center, which will be set up at the company's Göteborg site, will allow Lindex to manage, pick and operate the entire flow of goods.
Swisslog will be in charge of ensuring that Lindex' logistics are more time and cost efficient and that orders are processed in a more individual and timely way. To achieve this goal, Swisslog will implement its software products WarehouseManager™ and AutomationManager™ that will be customized for the client's specific needs. The new facility is based on a combined operation system, which includes both automatic and manual work processes. The picking warehouse is serviced by four cranes while the cross-dock area is built around an intelligent conveyor-based pick solution. Swisslog will also implement an automatic labeling and palletizing system.
